Preserving the quality of Alpine Fresh organic broccoli (3 lb) with MAP packaging

Problem

Oxidation and off-odors in the broccoli.

Solution

Agribolsa studied the post-harvest handling, gas concentration (oxygen and carbon dioxide), and developed a MAP package with the right permeability. Post-harvest recommendations from UC Davis were included.

Result

Oxidation and off-odors were prevented, extending the product's shelf life up to 24 days. This increased demand.
